My first lesson in leadership didn't come from a classroom. It came from watching my mother. 

She was a single mom and a pastor who led multiple churches throughout her career. She didn’t have a budget for leadership development workshops or executive coaching. What she had was a deep conviction that the people around her deserved to be developed. She invested in conversations. She created experiences that built trust, sharpened communication, and grew leaders, because she understood that strong teams don’t happen by accident. They are built intentionally.

That image never left me. And years of working alongside both exceptional and deeply ineffective leaders only deepened my conviction: leadership is the difference between an organization that thrives and one that survives.

I spent over 15 years working across education, nonprofit, and public sector organizations, designing and delivering leadership programs, and building learning systems for organizations navigating real complexity. Every role sharpened the same question: why do so many talented, well-meaning people lead poorly? Not because they don’t care, but because no one ever gave them the practical tools that match the demands of the job.

That question became the foundation for the RISE™ Leadership Framework, and eventually, for Johnson Leadership Development.

I hold a Master of Business Administration in Strategic Leadership Development, ICF-credited education, and an AI and Career Empowerment Certificate. But more than any credential, what drives this work is a genuine belief that leadership is learnable, that influence should be ethical, and that every organization deserves leaders who know how to show up.

Strong leadership is not accidental. It is developed. That is our work, and I would love for it to be yours.
